FAIRFIELD TWP. - A Fairton man facing child pornography charges in Cumberland County recently admitted in Superior Court in Western Pennsylvania that he traveled to Pennsylvania to sexually assault a teenage girl he met on the Internet, according to reports.
Andrew Luko, 29, pleaded guilty last month in Cambria County Court to two counts of statutory sexual assault and two counts of aggravated indecent assault in connection with the sexual abuse of a teen in 2007, in Johnstown, Pa., once when the girl was 14 and again when she was 15.
According to a report in the Tribune-Democrat from October, when Luko is sentenced on Jan. 13, he faces up to 40 years in prison or fines totaling up to $100,000.
Prior to that, he will be evaluated by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment board to determine if he is a sexually violent offender likely to continue exhibiting predatory behavior.
Luko was indicted in January by a Superior Court grand jury in Cum
berland County for second-degree and fourth-degree distribution of child pornography.
Prosecutors in Cumberland County allege that, around the time that Luko allegedly was in contact with the minor in Pennsylvania, he was in possession and transferred photographs or other media of a child "engaging in a prohibited sexual act or in the simulation of such act."
Detectives in Cambria County allege that Luko traveled to Johnstown twice in 2007 to meet with the girl he had met on the Internet.
On both occasions - one meeting in March when the teenager was 14 and one over a 3-day period in July when she was 15 - Luko allegedly took the victim to a motel, where authorities said the sexual abuse took place.
The girl reported the incidents to detectives, according to reports.
Authorities tracked Luko down through motel records and his vehicle registration....
